G7 agrees 100 million-barrel emergency oil release amid US pressure
6 comments 🔗 euronews.com ↗G7 countries have agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves over four months in a coordinated effort to bring down soaring energy prices, with a particular focus on diesel.
The release will be coordinated by the International Energy Agency (IEA), with a substantial amount of diesel to be made available within the first 20 days, according to a G7 statement.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who currently holds the G7 presidency, said the countries had agreed to act together to ease pressure on energy prices.
"We will implement our commitments with a coordinated release through the IEA of 100 million barrels to begin immediately over four months," the statement said.

Changing the way you put your baby to bed can save their life, according to new CDC data
9 comments 🔗 edition.cnn.com ↗Sudden unexpected infant death, or SUID, is a general term for the sudden and unexpected death of a baby younger than 1 year. It includes sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, as well as accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed, and infant deaths for which the cause remains unknown.
For this report, the CDC analyzed 4,861 SUID cases that occurred between 2020 and 2024 in 31 jurisdictions around the country that participate in its case registry. This registry provides detailed information about the circumstances surrounding deaths that is not available from death certificates alone.
The main finding is that 73% of the deaths were classified as having unsafe sleep factors. Looking at specific characteristics of the sleep environment, 78% involved soft bedding; 75% occurred on a sleep surface other than a crib or bassinet; 59% involved sharing a sleep surface with another person or animal; and 46% of infants were found sleeping on their stomach or side rather than their back. (These categories overlap, so an infant could have had several of these risk factors.)
There were also substantial racial disparities. Black infants accounted for 38% of the deaths in the registry, and the CDC noted that sudden unexpected infant death disproportionately affects Black and American Indian or Alaska Native infants. The reasons are complex and can include differences in access to resources in order to consistently implement safe sleep practices.

Vulnerability Report – September 2026: the month of the network edge
0 comments 🔗 vulnerability-lookup.org ↗Vulnerability-Lookup is an open-source platform run by CIRCL that aggregates vulnerability advisories from many sources (CVE, GitHub, PySec, and more), enriches them with sightings from MISP, Exploit-DB, Mastodon, Telegram, Nuclei and others, and federates five Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogs (CISA, CIRCL, ENISA / EU CSIRTs Network, The Shadowserver Foundation, Previdian) through the GCVE initiative.
Every month we publish a report built from that data. September 2026 in short:
- 14,959 CVEs published, +21.5% over August and the highest monthly volume ever recorded
- 43,109 sightings across 15,296 distinct vulnerabilities
- 166 vulnerabilities entered at least one tracked KEV catalog, up from 102 in August
- CISA added 43 entries, its busiest month of the year; the ENISA feed had 19 reports, three times August
- The story is the security appliance: Citrix NetScaler (three CISA entries), Check Point, F5 BIG-IP APM, four Cisco products, Fortinet, SonicWall, MikroTik, Zyxel and Arista. The two NetScaler RCEs of 27 September reached four catalogs within a day.
- CERT.PL's "MikroTrick" RouterOS research reached the ENISA feed five days before CISA listed it
- CIRCL confirmed seven exploitations, including a PAN-OS GlobalProtect ransomware case
- Previdian (formerly KEVIntel) covered all 43 CISA additions and was ahead on 18 of them
- The Shadowserver honeypot feed stopped delivering observations after 7 September, so that section is partial
The report includes a coverage matrix showing which catalogs cover each of the 166 vulnerabilities, per-catalog tables, the exploited-CVE ratio per month of 2026, top vendors, assigners, credits and weaknesses, and a summary of community comments and bundles.
It was generated with the help of AI using VulnMCP, with VLAI severity levels from the AIPITCH models. Feedback welcome on the GitHub issue tracker.
