Take the ban and move on.

    • bookmeat5

Yea, no shit. Then watch the US oligarchs lose their minds.

Wowwwwwww so uh… guys… sounds like the SPR is getting tapped out 🙃

What a time to be alive 🤠

Side note: I’m genuinely curious if any of his sycophants and die-hard fans have any awareness whatsoever of how absolutely transparent the Orange fuckwit is, and how childishly obvious the motives for his actions are. Negotiating with that nonce must be like trying to play chess with a kindergartener who refuses to understand that the game is not, in fact, checkers.

This tells me our own stocks must be running dry

Have been awhile now, and deployment takes a ton as well.

      It’s fucking weird…

It's not that weird if you assume that every single action these psychopaths take is to help themselves and shove blame for any of their shitty decisions onto everyone else.

When a client starts getting heavy handed with its collection on its vassels... Whole thing is about to fall apart.

The simplest tell that the US administration is concerned about the level of their own diesel stocks. Probably because gas price increases are speculated in the weeks up to the midterm elections.

The one positive of Trump is that other countries become determined to get off of fossil fuels.

    • Tyrq6

They've tipped their hand so forcefully that it almost feels like it's the plan, if it weren't for all the other evil shit convincing me otherwise anyhow

If high gas prices are the only way to get rid of this clown, then I am willing to walk everywhere and endure the short export ban (until someone sane replaces him)

    just hold until November 3rd.

With friends like the United States who needs enemies?

speedrun to crash the global economy

    • ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆12

I suspect the global economy is kind of like a chicken running with its head cut off at this point. The energy shortage is structural and cannot be fixed in the near term. And the effects of that have been masked by the fact that tankers were already out when the war started, and took some time to get to their destination, then by countries opening up the reserves. Now both of these amortization measures are exhausted, and we'll see the real price of energy take effect.

      • eldavi5

i fully expect the brunt to be felt after the midterm elections -- sparing trump and his ilk from the worst of the fallout.

        • ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆3

yeah an energy crisis right before the election would be a disaster for them

  • Iusedtobeanalien1via worldnews@lemmy.ml

He probably agreed to release the diesel with the G7 over the last few weeks and this is just grandstanding

    • ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆2

I'm guessing he's forcing the vassals to release what meager reserve they have left to ride out the election.

  • Retiredtoflorida7via worldnews@lemmy.ml

He is trying to temporarily lower diesel prices before the midterm elections.

What they aren't talking about is that trump also has drained the US strategic petroleum reserve. When they stop drawing that down, things will get really ugly.

  • Gerudo5via worldnews@lemmy.ml

Hey! You over there! Yeah, so we started a fight we can't win and it cost us all our gas reserves. Give us yours now. Oh you had nothing to do with it? Who cares, gimmie gimme gimme!

in reaction to the US attacking iran, germany sanctioned iran. so, y'know...

    • ghost_laptop5

nothing to do with it? lol, they are perpetrators of genocide, murder, rape and pillage.

      • Gerudo2

Did I miss a story where France and Germany attacked Iran and interfered with a massive traffic lane of diesel? This is all on the US.

        • eldavi4

they sanctioned and condemned iran for defending itself. lol

and that's on top of the sanctions that they've already been complying with for decades.

Merz did say Israel is doing Europe’s or Germany’s dirty work by attacking Iran

  • Soot [any]1via worldnews@lemmy.ml

I don't understand the motivation here - isn't the US an exporter? Surely high prices benefit the green line

    • ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆3

There are real shortages at this point, and the US doesn't produce nearly enough diesel to cover the shortfall. The US is looking at an economic crisis at this point with diesel going through the roof. Much of the transportation and farming depend on it. There's absolutely going to be a cap.

People have quite got in the habit of not listening.
